Kathryn Benz serves as the Assistant Director, Policy, for the Aspen Institute Energy & Environment Program’s Market Innovation team. In this role, she works closely with partners across government, industry, and civil society to identify and advance strategic policy pathways that can scale sustainable market solutions in the United States and abroad.
Kathryn brings extensive experience from inside and outside the federal government, with a portfolio spanning public lands and natural resources, water and air quality, and maritime issues. She brings a collaborative, holistic approach to complex policy challenges, helping to turn ambition into actionable, durable solutions. Kathryn received a J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law and her B.A. in Environmental Studies and Political Science from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.
