Taylor Goelz, MS/MPP, serves as a Senior Program Manager, Ocean & Climate for the Aspen Institute Energy & Environment Program (EEP). Goelz leads the day-to-day management of the Zero Emission Maritime Buyers Alliance (ZEMBA), an initiative of Cargo Owners for Zero Emission Vessels (coZEV) and a first-of-its-kind buyers group working to aggregate customer demand for zero-emission shipping solutions. In this role, Goelz manages ZEMBA’s forward procurement processes, working to accomplish ZEMBA’s goal of kickstarting a zero-emission market in the maritime sector with partners across the maritime value chain, major global companies, legal advisors, and experts focused on carbon accounting, corporate procurement, and zero-emission fuels development. She also leads external affairs and communications for the Ocean & Climate team where she develops and implements communications, media, and event strategies alongside key partners toward overarching team goals.
Prior to her role at Aspen, Goelz served as a John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellow with NOAA Research focused on domestic and international engagement, communication, and coordination for the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030). Goelz has worked on a variety of ocean & coastal management topics and is passionate about approaching tough problems through coalition building and building unique partnerships. She holds both a Masters in Marine Science and a Masters in Public Policy through William & Mary and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science’s dual degree program. She received her Bachelors in Environmental Studies from the University of San Diego.
