EPPIC Dialogue: Beyond the Plastics Treaty: Putting Policy into Practice

Location: Ottawa, Canada, Fairmont Château Laurier Hotel

Hosts: EPPIC Host Consortium - International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), The Aspen Institute, The Ocean Foundation, Searious Business, and the U.S. Department of State.

The EPPIC dialogue: Beyond the Plastics Treaty: Putting Policy into Practice, was hosted on behalf of the EPPIC Host Consortium to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among multi-sector stakeholders across the full lifecycle of plastics on the margins of the INC4 negotiations for the UN Plastics Treaty in Ottawa, Canada. This event was an opportunity to socialize EPPIC, launch the EPPIC Member and Partner Application, and create a separate and unique space for discussion, distinct from the INC4 convening.

This event engaged a wide variety of stakeholder groups including national governments, private sector, NGOs, academia and civil society to collaborate on their challenges and solutions in plastic pollution issues. The agenda for the session included a panel comprised of speakers from the EPPIC Host Consortium, a breakout session, and closing remarks from Kirsten Gillibrand, U.S. Senator (D), NY, and Sheldon Whitehouse, U.S. Senator (D), RI. The outcomes of this event drove the ambitions of EPPIC forward through future collaboration, partnerships, and convenings.
