Aspen Insititute's Energy and Environment Program hosted the 2024 Aspen-Columbia Global Energy Forum in partnership with the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs,. This year’s forum took place from June 5th to June 7th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and also virtually. The Forum was co-chaired by Jason Bordoff, Founding Director of the Center on Global Energy Policy and Co-Founding Dean of the Columbia Climate School, and Mari Elka Pangestu, former managing director of Development Policy and Partnerships in the World Bank and former Minister of Trade for Indonesia.

The Aspen-Columbia Global Energy Forum is an invitation-only conversation on global energy transitions, markets, geopolitics, and security. The forum gathers leaders from around the world representing a range of industries, governments, thought leaders, and global institutions. Sessions are designed to encourage fresh thinking, dissenting opinions, and frank discussion to inform perspectives, thereby affording participants an “over the horizon” view of critical and emerging issues, enhancing decision making and catalyzing action.
